Shares of Boeing dropped a sharp 8% in premarket trading after reports emerged that an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner carrying 242 passengers crashed shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad, India. The aircraft was en route to London Gatwick Airport. While the full details remain unclear, the crash raises renewed fears about Boeing’s safety track record, just as new CEO Calhoun Ortberg works to restore public trust and increase production rates.

This incident has triggered a strong sell-off in Boeing stock and poses a fresh challenge for the company’s recovery efforts in the aerospace sector.

Oracle shares jumped 8% in early trading after the company reported better-than-expected Q4 earnings. The software giant beat analyst forecasts with adjusted revenue of $15.90 billion and EPS of $1.70, exceeding estimates of $15.59B and $1.64 respectively. While its cloud segment slightly underperformed, the company issued a bullish revenue forecast for the next fiscal year, citing “dramatically higher” growth.
